Empowering
Engineers to lead
Engineering
Our President/CEO is an aerospace engineer. Several among our cadre are West Point graduates and were required to ground their academic studies, whatever the field, with an engineering track. All that to say, we understand engineers and engineering, as well as the mindset, stereotypes, and typical leadership challenges they face in a professional environment.
The engineering organizations we’ve been privileged to support span several disciplines, operating inside and outside the federal contracting space. We supported a large, international engineering organization providing support as a member of a large, multidisciplinary support team to craft a transition plan. We worked with a minority-owned engineering company in north Dallas to assess team dynamics in a remote office, coach one of their senior team members, and advise them on federal contract work.
Our longest-standing engineering relationship with Trideum Corporation involved creating leadership development programs for senior leadership and functional staff, program/project management-focused programs, one-on-one coaching, and support for their development of a strategic framework that better organizes training, learning and development.

Despite the allure of an engineering career, engineers and engineering are not immune from the same woes that haunt other professional endeavors, especially turnover. According to LinkedIn data, reported by Harvard Business Review, the tech and media industry (an umbrella that includes engineering), struggles with a turnover rate of 12.9% – the second highest across all professions. What drives turnover? According to McKinsey & Company, “uncaring/uninspiring leaders” ranks #3 among all retention drivers.
Consequently, every custom program Catalyzer develops that is targeted to engineers and engineering necessarily incorporates skills-focused modules on emotional intelligence, communications, conflict management, and delivering coaching/effective performance feedback.
