Agencies
Law Enforcement
In our work with law enforcement professionals, we deliver command-identified, skills-focused programs, to everyone from Sergeants and Field Training Officers to Lieutenants and Command Staff. Modules on Delegation & Decision-Making, Ethical Decision-Making, Embracing Change, and Positivity and Influence are popular with law enforcement officers.
Catalyzer has worked to develop custom courses and programs for different law enforcement bodies and welcomes the opportunity to create programs tailored to the unique needs of different states and counties.
According to the Department of Justice, 75.6% of all sheriff’s offices have less than 49 sworn, full-time equivalents. The consequence of this is that most agencies are too small, and budgets too constrained, to easily engage Catalyzer. Consequently, several we work with have partnered with their county governments or are considering joining adjacent counties to create regional programs. Beyond this, grant funding from POST and other sources is the most economical avenue.

Recommended programs
Agencies can engage with us via programs like the Front-Line Leader Institute (FLLI) or Command Staff Institute (CSI) – both may be supported through state or regional POST grant funds, or could be funded directly with Agency training budgets.
FRONT-LINE LEADER INSTITUTE
The FLLI is a 40-hour intensive program targeted at younger Sergeants, as well as those anticipating promotions. It encompasses 13 modules, delivered over five days, and involves pre-course work, regular homework, and post-course assignments. Since 2020, Catalyzer has delivered 20 FLLIs to over 350 deputy sheriffs, police officers, state troopers, wildlife/park rangers and others. Many participants identify this program as the “best leadership program I have ever participated in.” This program is offered four or five times annually.
COMMAND STAFF INSTITUTE
The CSI is an 80-hour program intentionally developed for promotable Lieutenants and seniors. It, too, encompasses 13 modules ranging from Leadership Foundations to Leading Change, Risk Management, and an Introduction to Strategic Planning and Project Management. A three-day scenario unfolds during the second week that offers participants a unique backdrop to discuss various contemporary topics in leadership and policing.
